CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.—Campbellsville University students were recently inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK), a national leadership honor society.
“Membership in Omicron Delta Kappa is as much an obligation and responsibility in leadership as it is a mark of highest distinction and honor,” according to ODK’s website. “Student membership candidates must rank in the upper 35 percent of their school or college and must show leadership in at least one of the five phases of campus life.”
NaKisha Stargel, a senior of Campbellsville and current vice president for CU’s ODK chapter, lit a candle representing each of the five phases of campus life: scholarship and academic success; athletics; campus and community service, social and religious activities and student government; journalism, speech and mass media; and creative and performing arts.
Dr. Pat Cowherd, faculty advisor of ODK and dean of the Porter-Bouvette School of Business and Economics at CU, said, “I have no doubt these students will change the world someday.”
Cole Torbert, a senior of Brentwood, Tenn. who serves as outgoing president, said, “We have observed your habits and qualities, and we welcome you into Omicron Delta Kappa.”
Cameron Campbell, a senior of Columbia, Ky. who will serve as vice president in the upcoming year, said, “If greatness is to be achieved one must serve.”
Megan Hollifield, a junior of Bowling Green, Ky. who will serve as president in the upcoming year, said she wants members to becoming involved in the campus and local community as servant leaders and “be willing to set an example for everyone else.”
