CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.—Campbellsville University will host the 4th Annual Upper Green River Aquatic Fauna Symposium on Friday, April 17, at 1 p.m. in the Banquet Hall of the Student Union Building.
The Student Union Building is located on the main campus and is the fourth building on the left at the main entrance.
The program will feature a series to talks given by several speakers. Mike Floyd, from the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, Kentucky Field Office, will present a report on the macro invertebrates of Dry Fork Gorge in Metcalfe County, with an update on Clay Hill Memorial Forest inventory.
Kerstin Edberg, Phil Lienisch and Jeffrey Marcus from Western Kentucky University will present a discussion of genetic isolation as a result of dam construction: a look at the effects on two species of darters.
Alan Reed, a CU adjunct instructor, and Dr. Richard Kessler, associate professor of biology and environmental studies from Campbellsville University, will present an overview of Green River aquatic faunal studies at CU.
Jim Layzer and Kendall Moles from Tennessee Tech University will present a discussion of ongoing mussel and fish studies in the upper Green River.
Monte McGregor from the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources will present a discussion of conservation management of mussels in the Green and Barren rivers at the Center for Mollusk Conservation.
Rob Hopkins from Southern Illinois University will present a discussion of distributional modeling of rare fishes and mussels in the upper Green River.
Chris Konrad and Andy Warner from the Global Freshwater Team of The Nature Conservancy will present a discussion on evaluating environmental flow prescriptions in the Sustainable Rivers Project.
