“We are excited to have our first Maroon and Gray Give Day. The committee has done a great job in getting ready, and we are looking forward to meeting the goal of 1,100 gifts in one day,” Benji Kelly, vice president for development at Campbellsville University, said.

The first annual Maroon and Gray Give Day will take place Saturday, Oct. 28, from 12 a.m. until 11:59 p.m. It is an opportunity for family, friends, students and CU alumni to show their Tiger Pride and give back to the university.

The goal for Give Day is to get 1,100 gifts donated throughout the day. The focus is on the number of gifts, rather than the dollar amount and “everything goes directly to students,” Darryl Peavler, director of alumni relations and event coordinator said.

Peavler said the university is partnering with various businesses in town to ask them to help with donations. All money that is donated during the Give Day will be put straight into the CU Scholarship Fund, which helps to keep student debt as low as possible.

There are four different ways to give as follows: a link on the CU homepage at Campbellsville.edu/giveday; give stations that will be set up around campus during Homecoming; in the Office of Development and participating business that are serving as Give Day drop-off locations around town.

To indicate which businesses are Give Day drop-off locations, the business will have a yard sign out front of their store.

The days leading up to the event, there will be donations taken up at various campus events.

Peavler also said for everyone to watch for more information in the newspaper, radio and video ads.

“I’d love to see challenges,” Peavler said when talking about his excitement about the event. “It would be cool to see the alumni challenge the graduating seniors to see who can make more donations.”

Those who donate will be given an “I Gave” sticker – much like a voting sticker.

Peavler encourages everyone to help give back to the CU and help the present and future students of the university. “Join me on Give Day in support of our alma mater and school. Let’s rally together to show our CU Pride!”
