CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville University’s Department of Art and Design is hosting its 2023 Annual Student Juried Show through Friday, April 28.
A reception will be held Friday, April 21, from 3:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. in The Pence-Chowning Art Gallery, 205 University Drive, Campbellsville.
An awards ceremony will begin at 4 p.m. in the art gallery.
According to the Department of Art and Design, “The experience in submitting gives students a real-world experience in call for artworks and an opportunity for resume building.”
For each category, awards will be given for first, second and third-place artwork. The categories are as follows: drawing, painting and mixed media; photography; printmaking and graphic design; ceramics and sculpture; and animation, digital drawing and digital painting. Overall Best of Show is purchased by Campbellsville University for their permanent collection.
Artwork submissions will be judged on various criteria, including craftsmanship, use of material, creativity, evidence of problem-solving, use of artistic elements and principles of design.
Visiting the exhibition and attending the reception is free to all.
Gallery hours at The Pence-Chowning Art Gallery for the spring 2023 semester are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.; and Thursday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
