CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville University’s next art exhibit will feature work by senior Alyssa Champagne of North Smithfield, R.I.

The exhibit, entitled “Florence, Form and Figure,” will begin Monday, March 31 in the Art Gallery.

Champagne is an art major at CU with a minor in English. She graduated from North Smithfield Junior-Senior High School in 2004.

“As a New England transplant, I am foremost an observer—a lover of the outdoors and the fresh perspective of travel—while each artistic medium stands as a means to express this beauty that inspires me,” Champagne said.

“Infusing style and study with the truths I seek and the experiences I’ve gained, my work to this point has been an exploration of various mediums,” she said, “though it is said that everything has been done before, it is my personal and professional goal to harmonize the aforementioned elements with greater perspective and technique entirely unique to who I am.”

Champagne said once she decided on a career path as an artist, she chose to immerse herself in the Renaissance city of Florence, Italy, for a semester of study.

“Much of the work on display follows my progress in drawing and painting overseas, while my personal photography stands to document the where and when along the way. Major emphasis has been paid to the intricacy and shape of the human figure, while other undergraduate work focuses on still life precision and exploration of the use of color amid organic forms in nature,” Champagne said.
