CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The weekend of Aug. 22-23 marked monumental days for several incoming students at Campbellsville University, move-in for new and returning students. Several CU attendees from across the nation took this opportunity to get settled into their resident halls and apartments in anticipation of the new semester.

“My first day at Campbellsville was amazing. The campus is terrific, I’m pleased to be here and hopefully make a lot of new friends,” Luis Bavaresco, CU freshmen from Venezuela, said.
Although online and night classes did not start until Monday, Aug. 24 and regular scheduled classes didn’t get underway until Tuesday, Aug. 25, students had the chance over the weekend to get their room and school supplies in order while meeting with other students, faculty and staff members.
With Welcome Weeks activities taking place over the first two weeks of class for students to participate in, they were welcomed to campus for events ready after they settled in at CU.
“We plan a number of special activities that are geared toward helping students to adjust to a new environment,”Dr. Michael V. Carter, president of Campbellsville University, said.
These activities included events such as the President’s Drop-in, the Bean and Bailey Show and FIRST CLASS Kick-off.
“We’re very excited about welcoming our returning students back to campus and our new students who are arriving. It’s an exciting time here at Campbellsville University,” Carter said.
Carter welcomed new and returning students back to campus with the President’s Drop-in, a chance to meet the president and first family of Campbellsville University, on the lawn of the president’s house. Students had the chance during the drop-in to enjoy popcorn, ice cream and live music while getting acquainted with faculty and staff.

“I decided to come to Campbellsville because of the smaller classroom sizes. I feel like I will receive more attention and learn in a better environment here,” Christian Cox of Brandenburg, Ky., Campbellsville University freshman, said.
Students have now finalized their schedules, organized their supplies, found their way to their classrooms and have taken their next step into their college career with the opening of the new semester.
“I had a great first day experience. The teachers are great, the campus is beautiful, and it feels wonderful to be back,” Meg Brown of Russellville, Ky., Campbellsville University senior, said.
