CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.— Dr. G. Ted Taylor, director of the Office of Church Outreach at Campbellsville University, has been named associate vice president for development and church relations, according to an announcement from Dr. Michael V. Carter, president of Campbellsville University.
Benji Kelly, vice president for development, said, “Dr. Taylor is a visionary leader. He is going to be able to build on the foundation that has been laid in church relations and be able to take CU to the next level.”
Taylor’s work at Campbellsville University began in 1994 when he became the men and women’s golf coach and the professor for Christian studies.
Taylor has served as the director of church outreach and FIRST CLASS. FIRST CLASS is a program for upperclassmen to provide spiritual and educational leadership to freshmEn and to serve as ambassadors for Campbellsville University’s mission of creating servant leaders.
Taylor has directed the growth of the Church Outreach program at Campbellsville University. Over the course of this academic year, the program expects to lead 200 church worship services. The group consists of 41 students and six staff who have a common goal of expanding the Kingdom of God and fulfilling the Great Commission.
Taylor has served as a pastor, transitional pastor and the minister of education and administration for several churches throughout Kentucky. He has also had 50 articles published for religious periodicals and has been the contributing author for several books.
Taylor began serving as the transitional pastor at the First Baptist Church of London, Ky. on March 20.
Taylor received his associate of arts degree from Hiwassee College in Madisonville, Tenn. in 1972; his bachelor of science in business administration/marketing from the University of Tennessee in 1972; his master of arts in Christian education from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville in 1981 and his doctorate in education in 1987 from Memphis State University in Memphis, Tenn.
He was born in Knoxville, Tenn., and is married to Sheri Marie Jones Taylor, a Christian educator. Their children and grandchildren live in Knoxville — daughter Ashley and grandchildren Taylor and Carson Jessie; and son, Brannon and grandchildren Reece, Rylee and Will Taylor.
