CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville University’s WLCU studios will be back up and re-energized on Friday, Sept. 5 at 314 N. Columbia Ave., Campbellsville, Ky.
At 11:30 a.m. Sept. 5, WLCU will launch new programming schedules and reveal some of the new sounds associated with the broadcasts.
On May 22, the WLCU radio and TV studio was struck by lightning. “The lightning strikes were the worst for any comparable broadcast entity in the state,” said Dr. Keith Spears, vice president for graduate and professional studies, who oversees the broadcast area.
“The purpose of this event is to bring awareness to the public that we are back in full operation and also to provide the opportunity to reveal the new on-air branding of the stations and their collateral program outlets,” Spears said.
The re-launch of WLCU studios is vital for the mass communication program, he said.
“This event will allow all new students to see the potential for them working at the stations and it will confirm to returning students that they are associated with a professional program,” said Spears.
The event will be covered live on the FM radio, 88.7, and via a live webcast. Brief remarks will be heard from President Michael V. Carter; Dr. John Chowning, vice president for church and external relations and executive assistant to the president; Rusty Hollingsworth, director of athletics; and Bill Goodman, adjunct instructor in mass communication.
A figurative button will be pressed to start the new equipment and initiate the new programming.
WLCU TV is showed on Comcast Cable Channel 10; WLCU operates a local channel of university and community events on Channel 22; and WLCU FM is on 88.7.
