CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The sights and sounds of Christmas
were in the air as Dr. Michael V. Carter, president of Campbellsville
University, spoke about the relationship between the community and the
university at the monthly Campbellsville-Taylor County Chamber of Commerce luncheon
Dec. 10 on the campus of Campbellsville University.

“What’s good for the community is good for Campbellsville
University, and what’s good for the university is good for the community,” he
said.
Carter said everyone has concern with the cost of higher
education, but Campbellsville University students graduate with less student
debt than others in the Commonwealth.
“We are 110 years old,” he said. “We are continuing to grow
and evolve as we adapt to the needs of the 21st century.”
Campbellsville University has students from 48 different
nations, helping provide a diverse community with many cultures represented.
“We have seen a record number of online students this year.
We’re also taking a look at student involvement in the community,” Carter said.
Carter spoke of the 228 students who would be graduating in
two ceremonies the following day, a number up slightly from last year’s
December Commencement.
He closed in thanking the community for their support of the
university, and the commitment to Christian higher education.
“God bless you and thank you for all you do for
Campbellsville,” Carter said.
Jamie Lawrence, head bowling coach and Church Outreach
pastor, performed special Christmas music along with his wife, Elisha Lawrence,
residence director; Paula Smith, director of alumni relations; and Natalie
Burdette, director of annual giving.
Food for the luncheon was provided by Pioneer College
Catering Inc.
Campbellsville University is a widely acclaimed
