CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Local artists will be painting and showing their work at the Chowning Art Shop on the Campbellsville University campus July 4. Children will have an opportunity to create their own art work.

Weather permitting, artists will be painting in the Turner Log Cabin Park area. The Chowning Art Shop is located at 503 N. Columbia Ave., Campbellsville. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 4.

Carolyn Ogden, president of the Campbellsville University Patrons of the Visual Arts, said artists will be painting and talking about their work. She said other pieces of the artists’ work, as well as many other artists, will be on sale at the Chowning Art Shop.

She said children will be able to color and make artistic designs with their work also during these hours.

“We hope everyone will come out and watch our artists and tour the Chowning Art Shop that provides wonderful pieces of local art work,” Ogden said.

The annual Independence Day Car Show, sponsored by the Tri-County Car Club and Campbellsville University, will also be on campus on Stapp Lawn and in front of Montgomery Library, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. July 4. Ogden invites the public to come look at the cars and tour the art shop.

The art shop features some photographs of cars.

The Chowning Art Shop is open each Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers operate the shop.

Art available at the shop includes paintings, prints, photographs, note cards, jewelry, hand bags, pottery, ships and lighthouses made of toothpicks, walking sticks and much more.
