CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Creative Spirit Theater Academy, the collaborative team of Campbellsville University Theater and Town Hall Productions, is back on Campbellsville University’s campus and has released its schedule for the remainder of the year.
All classes will take place in the Theater Arts Studio, 307 N. Court St., Campbellsville, located behind Papa Johns and will adhere to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.
Beginning Sept. 5 and running every Saturday through Nov. 28, an acting methods class will be offered from 10 to 11 a.m. for ages 12 and up. “We will take a look at several different acting methods from Adler to Stanislavski. This is a three-month class that can be joined monthly,” Alia McClendon, community theater manager, said.
On Tuesday, Sept. 8, 15, 22 and 29, Under the Sea: Creature Making will be offered from 4 to 5 p.m. for ages 6 to 9. Students will be making various sea creatures like jelly fish, fish and more.
Another Under the Sea: Creature Making class will be offered on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 15, 22 and 29 from 5 to 6 p.m. for ages 10 and up. Students will be making various sea creatures like jellyfish and stingrays.
On Wednesday, Oct. 7, 14, 21 and 28 acting classes will be offered from 4 to 5 p.m. for ages 6 through 9. In this class students will learn what it takes to be an actor.
Acting Methods will be offered Saturday, Oct. 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 with different methods from Adler to Stanislavski. This is a three-month class that can be joined monthly.
A character development class will also be offered on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 14, 21 and 28. This class, which will teach students how to develop a character, will run from 5 to 6 p.m. for ages 10 to 12.
Under the Sea: Accessories and Jewelry Making will be offered Tuesday, Oct. 6, 13, 20 and 27 for ages 10 and up. “We will be making Mer-necklaces, earrings and various other character accessories out of unconventional items,” McClendon said.
Under the Sea: Crafting Poor Unfortunate Souls will be offered Tuesday Oct. 6, 13, 20 and 27 for ages 6 to 9. Students will be making Ursula’s captured souls.
Acting Methods will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. from Nov. 7, 14, 21 and 28 for ages 12 and up.
Beginning Nov. 3 and running every Tuesday until Nov. 24, an Under the Sea: Food Props class will be offered from 4 to 5 p.m. for ages 6 to 9. Students will learn how to make fake food including Les Poissons.
On Tuesday, Nov. 3, 10, 17 and 24, an Under the Sea: Character Props class, where items ranging from dinglehopers to tridents will be made, will be offered from 5 to 6 p.m. for ages 10 to 12.
A Playwriting Class: Christmas edition will be offered Wednesday, Nov. 4, 11, 18 and 25 for ages 10 and up. Each student will get to work on developing a Christmas play.
On Monday, Nov. 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 a Modern Dance class will be offered from 6 to 7 p.m. for ages 12 and up.
Musical Theater Mondays will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Nov. 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 for ages 12 and up. The class is comprised of one hour of vocals with McClendon and another hour of dance with Kristin Dowdy, instructor in theater dance. Students will learn the ins and outs of some of the most popular musical theater numbers around.
Private lessons for voice or acting are also offered by appointment only.
