CAMPELLSVILLE, Ky. — The Campbellsville University School of Music will present the CU Concert Chorus in a performance of Gabriel Faure’s sacred cantata “Requiem” on Thursday, April 18, at 8 p.m. in the sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church, located at 317 E. Main St., Campbellsville. The public is invited to the free concert.

Conductor of the CU Concert Chorus is Dr. David Hedrick, assistant professor of music. Hedrick recently retired from “The Stephen Foster Story” after 40 years of performing and most recently was the musical director.
Hedrick has over 40 years of teaching experience and been a church musician for more than 35 years. He is a published composer and arranger and continues to perform, lecture and adjudicate vocal and choral events across the state.
Assisting the 41-member chorus will be the CU String Ensemble and Dr. Wesley Roberts, professor of music, as organist. Soloists include graduate vocal performance major Heather Heim, soprano, from Leitchfield, Ky.; sophomore vocal performance major Ian McGuffin from Bardstown, Ky.; and junior vocal major Joseph Weber from McKinney, Texas.
CU’s Concert Chorus is an oratorio chorus that meets twice weekly and performs one major concert per semester and is open to all students and community singers.
Thirty-three of the members are pursuing degrees in music education, music performance, music area and church music. Others are pursuing degrees in Christian ministries, worship arts, English and art.
States other than Kentucky represented in the chorus include Texas and Tennessee with international students from Honduras, Brazil, Liberia and China.
