CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.—School may be out for the summer, but for two days each month, Campbellsville University buzzes with life. LINC Freshman Orientation season is officially underway with new students coming on campus and getting involved with the campus, getting their IDs made, schedules settled and getting to know each other.
The first of four LINC weekends kicked off May 22-23 where 130 incoming freshmen got their first taste of what it’s like to be a Campbellsville University Tiger. There were 144 students at the June 5-6 LINC.
LINC is designed to help each student: Learn in a new environment, Invest in their future, Navigate life change and Connect to Campbellsville University. At LINC, students meet some of the most influential people in their college careers: the residence life staff, the administration, their advisors and their future roommates and friends.
Tammy McWhorter, new student orientation coordinator, said LINC is a campus-wide effort.
“Preparation for LINC starts in early fall and continues until the last LINC is finished in late summer,” she said.
“There are many things that are done in preparation for LINC, such as updating the LINC guidebook and hiring and training the LINC staff. It truly is a team effort!” McWhorter said.
LINC weekends will take place a total of four times this summer, and the last two LINCs are July 11-12 and Aug. 1-2.

Over the two-day orientation period, new students schedule classes, receive their official Campbellsville student IDs, parking passes and university post office boxes, and meet with officials in the university’s Offices of Business Services and Financial Aid.
McWhorter hopes every student feels welcome and at home at CU.
“My favorite thing about LINC is working with the students and their families and trying to make them comfortable with their decision to continue their education at Campbellsville University. I also want them to leave with peace knowing they are in God’s will,” McWhorter said.
Courtney Keith, an incoming freshman from Somerset Ky., is excited to get her college career underway.
“I hope Campbellsville is everything I’m hoping for it to be. It seems like it’s a really friendly, Christian environment, so it’ll be like the home I’ve always looked for.”
Keith is planning to pursue a degree in the medical field and came to Campbellsville to take advantage of the mission trip opportunities available through different programs and the Baptist Campus Ministry.
