CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY TO HOLD THIRD LINC ORIENTATION JULY 16-17

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – As incoming freshmen begin to make their preparations to come to Campbellsville University for the fall, they will first find themselves during the summer becoming connected through one of CU’s LINC Orientation Sessions.
The first LINC of the summer was June 4-5 with over 150 students participating.
“With a great turnout and many dedicated workers, the first LINC was definitely a success. We received a lot of positive feedback from parents and students, and currently we are working to make the next one even better.” Anderson said.
The next LINC session that is available is July 16-17. Reservations are required by calling the Office of Admissions at (270) 789-5220 or go to the CU Web site at campbellsville.edu.
During LINC, students and their parents attend seminars together and apart, that are especially designed to connect, comfort and answer the questions and concerns typically heard from incoming college freshmen and their families. Here they also handle important tasks to further prepare them for the semester. They receive their room assignments, pick up their post office keys and CU IDs, and on the second day they schedule their classes.
All of this is done with help of the student services and admissions staffs, along with many other CU faculty members. Also present, are a group of students selected by the student services staff that all represent leadership and come from different areas and interests on campus.
“The goal of these new students is ultimately graduation; however it is important for them to use their time here at CU to develop as Christians, in relationships, and as a person in general. The LINC sessions do not only handle the academic and residential aspects, but the students and parents will make connections here too. The students will make friends, and learn who to talk to in order to get plugged in where their interests are,” said Anderson.
William King was one of the incoming freshmen who attended the first LINC session. King, from Savannah, Ga., is coming to CU to play baseball.
“I had fun at LINC,” King said. “I was able to meet a lot of the other players, and they were all very welcoming. I am very excited to come here in the fall.”
The parents are also given folders with information just for them, and they attend a seminar in which they are allowed to ask any questions they may have of a panel of four students and two veteran parents.
Paige Stoltz and her parents, Kevin and Dee Dee Stoltz, from Louisville, Ky., also attended the first LINC session.
“LINC was very helpful,” Mrs. Stoltz said. “Questions were asked that I would have never even thought to ask. Everyone was extremely friendly, and we are very comfortable with this campus,” she said.
“I liked that the activities were opened and closed with prayer. It made me feel even more confident with Paige’s decision to come here,” Stoltz said.
Students check-in between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. on the first day; they are encouraged to spend the night in the residence halls. The seminars finish up the second day with students meeting in groups with their advisors to schedule classes.
Following the students’ class scheduling, students and parents may stay and continue to connect with faculty or other students, or continue to become comfortable with the campus, or they may return home and begin getting ready for move in-day, August 21! (For most students, for athletes and band members, it’s even sooner!)
