CU to present guest piano duet by alumni

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville University will present a guest piano duet by CU alumni Yuri Kim and Zhui Zhang at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14 at The Gheens Recital Hall in the Gosser Fine Arts Center at 210 University Drive, Campbellsville.

They will be performing works by Gershwin, Mozart, Milhaud and Osieck. Kim and Zhang are doctoral students at the University of Kentucky. The concert is free and open to the public.

Kim, a native of South Korea, holds her master’s degree in piano performance at the University of Kentucky School of Music and a master of music in piano pedagogy as a student of Dr. Wesley Robert, professor of music at Campbellsville University, where she graduated with the Outstanding Graduate Student Award and as a member of the American honor society, Pi Kappa Lambda.

She also earned the certificate in piano pedagogy under Yuri Slesarev at Moscow’s P.I. Tchaikovsky Conservatory.
Kim is pursuing her doctorate in piano performance at UK studying under the tutelage of Dr. Irina Voro. She also serves as a teaching assistant for the School of Music teaching class piano.

Zhang, a native of China, is a DMA candidate in piano performance at the University of Kentucky studying under Dr. Irina Voro. Zhang holds his master’s degree from Campbellsville University in piano performance as a student of Roberts.

In recent years, Zhang has won prizes in several piano competitions in both Asia and the United States. As a soloist and accompanist, he frequently presents a large number of recitals in different places. He also served as a teaching assistant for the School of Music teaching class piano at UK.
