CU, Town Hall Productions to produce ‘Into the Woods’ July 2-5

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – “Into the Woods,” a Stephen Sondheim musical, will be presented by Campbellsville University and Town Hall Productions, July 2-4 in the Russ Mobley Theater of the Alumni Building at 114 University Drive, Campbellsville, Ky.

Performance times are 7 p.m. Thursday, July 2; 7 p.m. Friday, July 3; 6 p.m. Saturday, July 4 (earlier time due to Campbellsville’s community fireworks display) and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 5.

A synopsis of the show is as follows: As the result of the curse of a once-beautiful witch, a baker and his wife are childless. Three days before the rise of a blue moon, they venture into the forest to find the ingredients that will reverse the spell and restore the witch’s beauty. During their journey, they meet Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel and Jack, each one on a quest to fulfill a wish.

The cast includes: Les Chadwick as cast narrator/mysterious man; Hattie Clark as Cinderella; Asa James Swan as Jack; Sherri Simmons as Jack’s Mother; Nathan Allen, assistant theater instructor at Campbellsville University, as Baker;

Sarah Durham as Baker’s Wife; Malorie Byrne as Little Red Riding Hood; Singrid Tipton as Witch; Alia McClendon as Cinderella’s Stepmother; Kristen De Le Garza as Florinda;

Lauren Nallia as Lucinda; Rachel Crabtree as Cinderella’s Mother/Granny/Giant; Trisha Hall as Rapunzel; Sam Crabtree as Cinderella’s Prince/Wolf;

Jody Graham as Repunzel’s Prince; Daniel Beams as Steward; Andrew Simmons as Milky-White; Daniel Beams as Graham Steward; and Jody Graham as Rapunzel’s Prince.

The crew consists of: Dr. Jason Lyle Garrett, associate professor of communications at CU, artistic director; Starr Garrett, director of theater at CU and associate professor of theater, technical director; Cyndi Chadwick, music director; Andrew Ward, producer; Dr. Bill Budai, associate professor of piano at Campbellsville University, assistant music director;

Dave Walters, vice president for admissions and student services at Campbellsville University, set construction; Nancy Walters, part-time data entry, scan clerk in the Office of Admissions at Campbellsville University, costumes;

Misty Cartwright, hair and makeup; Jon Hieneman, sound and mic technician; Abby Hieneman, light technician and Staci Schaum, stage manager.
