CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Christian speaker Demetria Gilkey emphasized verses 1-2 from Psalm 121 in her recent chapel address at Campbellsville University.

The verses discussed trusting the Lord – the topic on her heart for numerous weeks leading to her address.

Gilkey said Psalm 121:1-2 reminds people that when problems and troubles arrive and they are tired and ready to give up, all help comes from the Lord.

Psalm 121:1-2 states, “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, From whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, Which made heaven and earth.”

She said you must always see the Lord, even during the storms of life.

Gilkey said people look to other sources rather than going to God. “We get everyone’s opinions. We read blogs. We even go to the internet, and after talking to several people, we run to God,” she said.

Gilkey said, “Jesus does not have to guess and hope as people do. God is all-powerful and all-knowing.”

She talked about the daily struggles people face in life. “God did not promise us a life that will be perfect. Life can be hard. But we have a Father who is a way maker, a miracle worker, a promise keeper and a light in the darkness,” she said.

Gilkey said, during times of stress and challenges, God shows up in a way only He can.

Sharing a testimony about faith, Gilkey said, “I remember there was a time when I really wanted to work at a company, and I was trying so hard, and I didn’t get it, and a couple of months later, the company announced mass layoffs and eventually closed.”

Gilkey shared how, since God made everything, He can handle all situations people are experiencing.

She said, “God is the creator of everything. Since He can create an entire world, imagine how tiny your problem looks or sounds to him. He can handle anything we are dealing with.”
