Office of University Communications receives CASE Awards

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Campbellsville University’s Office of
University Communications received three Grand Awards and three Awards of
Excellence from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE)
Ky. organization during the CASE-Kentucky conference recently in Lexington.

The office staff won the Grand
Awards, the highest award, for the following: the Campbellsvillian alumni
magazine in the print and digital publications category for institutions less
than 10,000 students; the university’s Economic Impact Study under the category
of graphic design, single-page publication or flier; and for a special print
low budget publication “Homecoming 2014: Let the Good Times Roar” that was
published in the Central Kentucky News-Journal.

The Award of Excellence was given to
Campbellsville University for the following: a graphic design specialty piece
Infographic for Campbellsvillian; Ministry in Action in the print and digital
publications tabloid category; and the cover graphic design for the
university’s Economic Impact Study.

Special merit awards were given for
10 other entries in advertising, graphic design, print and digital publications
and programs and projects.

Dr. John Chowning, vice president for church
and external relations and executive assistant to the president, who oversees
the Office of University Communications at Campbellsville University, said, “We
are very gratified by the large number of CASE awards. Our University
Communications staff is a hard-working professional team that is dedicated to
sharing the Campbellsville University story via various media and venues.
Congratulations to the staff on a job well done, and a word of appreciation is
expressed to CASE for this recognition by our colleagues in the higher
education community.”

Chowning said, “The CU communications
team endeavors to utilize all forms of media and venues – from traditional
print publications to the latest in social media platforms – to share the
exciting news of Campbellsville University continuing progress and emphasis on
servant leadership for our faculty, staff, coaches and students.”

The 2014-15 office staff consisted of
Joan C. McKinney, news and publications coordinator; Linda Waggener, marketing
and media relations coordinator; and Drew Tucker, communications assistant.

McKinney and Tucker, who is now marketing
and media relations coordinator, remain full-time staff members; Waggener is
now retired but is working on a part-time basis.

CASE-Kentucky is one of the few
statewide CASE organizations. CASE-Kentucky strives to provide networking and
career opportunities for institutions within the state, including the posting
of job openings on the organization’s website and attending an annual
conference.
