Wood to lead Women’s History Month lecture March 14

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Celebrating and focusing on Women’s History Month, Dr. Wendy Wood, professor of history, education and women’s and gender studies, will be giving a lecture at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 14 in the Badgett Academic Support Center (BASC) Atrium as part of the First-Generation Scholars Program lecture series. Everyone is invited to attend.

The First-Generation Scholars Program hosts seminars each Monday at 10 a.m. in the Badgett Academic Support Center atrium to discuss topics of interest and guidance. These seminars are free and open to the public.

Lectures this semester have included topics such as internships and summer plans; critical thinking; money, credit, and loans; sexual assault prevention and awareness and title IX; Heritage Month discussions; and alcohol safety education.

Wood is the lead professor of the social studies area, as well as a university supervisor for student teachers in social studies. She is the faculty advisor for Phi Alpha Theta, a history honor society on campus.

From Western Kentucky University, Wood earned her Bachelor of Science in Social Studies Secondary Education, her Master’s in History and a graduate degree in Women’s and Gender Studies. She earned her Doctorate in History with an emphasis in Women’s and Religious History from the University of Kentucky.

Wood has taught at the college level for 25 years, also serving at Lindsey Wilson College and Western Kentucky University. She has been at Campbellsville University since 2007.

Wood has a daughter, Morgan Benningfield, who is graduating from Campbellsville University in 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts and Sciences.
