CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville University’s Flute Ensemble will perform in concert Tuesday, April 12 at 8 p.m. in The Gheens Recital Hall of the Gosser Fine Arts Center at 210 University Drive, Campbellsville.
The public is invited to the free concert.
The flute ensemble will perform a variety of pieces from several parts of the world in a mix of full and small ensemble setups, according to Denis Santos, director.
Titles like “Old and New China,” “Three Russian Dances,” “Three American Hymns” and “Samba de Uma Nota So” will be part of the sounds, harmony and rhythm of the countries, Santos said.
Santos will be featured in a “challenging and exciting” piece for solo flute and piano titled “Grand Polonaise” by Theobald Boehm. Dr. Lisa McArthur, professor of music, arranged the piece and will be the guest conductor for the piece.
Campbellsville University Flute Ensemble personnel include: Rachel Cain of Charlotte, N.C.; Amanda Duvall of Franklin, Ky.; Abby Lanham of Lebanon, Ky.; Jenna Haynes of Guston, Ky.; Tosha Russell of Somerset, Ky.;
Eun Hee Kim of South Korea; Sunghye Kim of South Korea; MinKyu Seo of South Korea; Cristina Silva of Brazil; Nakisha Stargel of Campbellsville; Tiffany Trent of Webster, Ky., and Elizabeth Tucker of Burnside, Ky., plus special guest Jacquie Miller, a CU alumna who graduated with a master of music in church music in 2008 and who is from Irvington, Ky.
