CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville University will host nationally known author and speaker Lee E. Thomas speaking on his book, “Praying Effectively for the Lost,” Tuesday, March 30, at 7 p.m. in Ransdell Chapel, located at 401 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville.
The event is free and open to the public, and free copies of the book will be available for attendees.
Thomas’s seminar “shares a simple plan to help you understand biblical principles you can use to intercede for the lost,” according to the event’s Web site.
“Most of us get discouraged and encounter difficulty in praying for the lost over a long period of time. There are specific ways we can make our prayer become challenging and effective. You will learn how to effectively pray for the lost in this seminar.”
After serving as pastor at churches in Texas and Louisiana for more than 30 years, Thomas pursued a full-time ministry dedicated to teaching people how to pray effectively.
In 2009, Thomas held 120 seminars based on his book about praying for the lost. The book, which is free of charge, has over one million copies in print and has been translated into 28 languages.
Based on a formula integrating the world’s population and the estimated percentages of people who have no religious connection or who belong to religions that don’t recognize God, Thomas estimates that 140,000 souls go to hell every day. His mission is to change this through intermediate prayer.
His motto comes from the words of Charles Spurgeon: “If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to hell over our bodies. If they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees. Let no one go there unwarned and unprayed for.”
Thomas believes that people will not be saved unless someone prays for them.
Thomas received his master of divinity and master of arts degrees in religious education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.
