CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Charleen Brinson, a senior at Campbellsville University, will put her works of art on display in the Campbellsville University Art Gallery, located at 205 University Drive, Campbellsville, Monday, Nov. 15 through Monday, November 22.
A reception will be held in the Art Gallery Saturday, Nov. 20 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Brinson describes her art as “a visual into the inner world of a girl that has grown into a woman,” and that much of her work “came from my imagination, which is something I have always been encouraged to let run wild.”

She also said she has been an artist basically her entire life. “I don’t remember a time when I wasn’t an artist. My mom put crayons in my hands the moment I could hold onto them.”

Brinson’s art exhibit will display portrait paintings, sculptures and drawings.

Brinson was raised in Lebanon, Ky. and graduated from Marion County High School in 2006. She attended Elizabethtown Community and Technical College before transferring to CU in the fall of 2009.

Brinson will graduate from CU in the spring of 2011 with a degree in art with teacher certification. She won first place in sculpture at the 2010 Kentucky State Fair as well as first place in painting and second place in drawing at the 2010 student juried art show at CU.

Brinson admits that she didn’t consider art education a career goal until her senior year of high school when she discovered her love for teaching and tutoring other students after school in the art room. “There are just some moments in life when you sit down and think to yourself that you have a purpose and from that moment on I have know mine is to be an educator.”
