CAMPBELSVILLE, Ky. – The annual “Adopt-a-Grandparent” Day is Tuesday, April 16. Campbellsville University ESL (English as a Second Language) students are volunteering their time to assist senior citizens with household projects in Taylor County.

Last year over 70 students participated. This year, the ESL Department hopes to find 12 to 15 senior citizens who would like eager students to help them with their household duties.

Elaine Tan, international activities assistant at CU, said, “In the past, our students have raked lawns, planted bushes, organized kitchens, helped pack boxes, cleaned patios and some experienced an afternoon of farm work.”

“Adopt-a-Grandparent” Day is an enriching experience, a day of connection and support for local senior citizens, Tan said. It is a day of servant leadership and community involvement for the ESL students.

Campbellsville University is a widely acclaimed Kentucky-based Christian university with more than 3,600 students offering 63 undergraduate options, 17 master’s degrees, five postgraduate areas and eight pre-professional programs. The website for complete information is campbellsville.edu.
