Dr. Reese Land, assistant professor of trumpet and music at Campbellsville UniversityCAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Dr. Reese Land, assistant professor of trumpet and music at Campbellsville University, recently received the award for College/University Professor of the Year from the Kentucky Music Educators Association (KMEA) in the fourth district.

Land has worked at CU for three years now, and on top of being a trumpet instructor he also teaches courses in music appreciation and brass methodology.

Land worked with many of the high school bands in the counties surrounding Campbellsville during their summer band camps, which is when the band students usually spend a week or two learning their new shows for the upcoming marching season.

Land was nominated for the award by band directors he spent time working with in the KMEA fourth district.

“Getting nominated by folks in the region that basically barely know me is pretty awesome,” said Land.

He received the award during the annual KMEA convention in Louisville, Ky, Saturday, Feb. 6.

“I was very proud to receive this award especially coming from the fine band directors and music directors in this district. I was very honored,” he said.
