CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville University will host a chemistry seminar Thursday, March 11, featuring Dr. Rick Higashi, associate professor of chemistry and director of mass spectrometry development for the Center for Regulatory and Environmental Analytical Metabolomics (CREAM) at the University of Louisville, discussing “Dalton’s Muse: Lies of the Periodic Table.”
The seminar will be at 5:05 p.m. in room 402 of Carter Hall, located at 112 University Drive, Campbellsville.
The event is free and open to the public.
Higashi earned his doctorate of environmental chemistry from the University of California, Davis in 1987, bachelor of science in chemistry from the University of Hawaii in 1977 and has done post-doctoral work in environmental and analytical biochemistry at the Bodega Marine Laboratory at UC Davis.
Higashi has served on a number of National Science Foundation (NSF) review panels, served as a technical advisor to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and been an author on at least 57 peer-reviewed publications.
Research in Higashi’s laboratory includes such diverse fields as cancer metabolism, neurological disease biochemistry, environmental [bio]chemistry and biodefense subjects
