CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.— Forward in the Fifth’s Board of Directors met recently at Campbellsville University. Forward in the Fifth began as a community-based organization for raising the educational levels of residents in Kentucky’s Fifth Congressional District.

Forward in the Fifth was formed in 1986 under Congressman Hal Rogers, educators, business and community leaders in southern and eastern Kentucky. At that time, the District was identified in the 1980 Census as having the lowest level of educational attainment in the nation. Since then, the Fifth District has shifted eastward due to redistricting; however, Forward in the Fifth continues to serve the original district area and now serves a total of 42 counties in the primary service area in Southern and Eastern Kentucky.
