CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky., — Preparations for the 2016 Campbellsville University Homecoming Parade are underway with the parade starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15 at Jackson Towers. Participants should meet there at 9:30 a.m.

The parade will end in front of Stapp Lawn on the university campus.

The theme of the 2016 Homecoming is “Best of the Bluegrass.” Spectators can look forward to floats organized by different clubs and organizations from campus including, the Homecoming candidates, the CU Tiger Marching Band, cheerleaders and the president of Campbellsville University, Dr. Michael V. Carter, with his wife, Debbie.

The director of student activities Trent Creason said, “We are excited about Homecoming this year as it is always a great opportunity for students and alumni to connect and enjoy what Campbellsville is really about.

“This event is always a great way for the community and the university to become more connected as well. Those who join in on festivities will be pleasantly surprised with some new and exciting additions to Homecoming this year.”

Creason said, “We take pride in the hard work that goes into making the floats and have rewards for the best ones. First prize is $300, second prize is $200, third prize prize is $100, and the SGA Award is $100.”

Also, participants in the Homecoming Car Cruise are invited to drive their cars in the parade, and one person will win $100.

For those who cannot be there you can tune in to WCLU 88.7 FM or watch it on television on Comcast Channel 10 and digital channel 23.1.

“Homecoming at Campbellsville University means more than winning a competition or a sporting event,” Creason said. “It provides an opportunity for every component of the university to come together and celebrate as a whole. All are welcome to come and celebrate with us!”
