CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Rev. Rick Howerton, director of events and training and small group specialist for Serendipity by LifeWay, will be the guest speaker at Campbellsville University’s chapel at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22 in Ransdell Chapel at 401 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville.
The public is invited to attend.

Howerton, a 1981 graduate of Campbellsville University, has been in the role of small group trainer and consultant for more than eight years.
“Rick Howerton is one of the unheralded leaders in the small group movement,” Al Hardy, dean of academic support said. He said Howerton believes that small groups can and will change the world.
Howerton authored or co-authored three small group studies as well as “Destination Community: Small Group Ministry Manual.”
Howerton has been a small group pastor and senior pastor. In 2003, he planted The Bridge, a church built around healthy small groups.
Howerton leads over 40 conferences nationwide per year. He has authored or co-authored three small group studies including “Small-Group Kickoff Retreat: Experiential Training for Small Group Leaders,” “Great Beginnings: Your First Small Group Study” and “Redeeming the Tears: A Journey Through Grief and Loss.”
He is also the author of “Destination Community: Small Group Ministry Manual,” an all-encompassing 172-page guide to creating a small group ministry and starting and leading passionate, life-changing small groups.

Howerton served as a college minister for 10 years with the Kentucky Baptist Convention at Northern Kentucky University then on to Western Kentucky University.
He served Waddy Baptist Church in Waddy, Ky., Immanuel Baptist Church in Elizabethtown, Ky., (serving under the direction of Al Hardy), and Living Hope Baptist Church in Bowling Green, Ky.
Howerton’s church he planted, The Bridge in Spring Hill, Tenn., is pastored by his son, Josh. Howerton is married to Julie Clay Howerton, a 1980 graduate of CU, and his son, Josh and daughter-in-law Jana, are expecting his first grandchild, and his son Lee is a fellow journeyer with a penchant for writing music that touches the heart and lifts the spirit.
Chapel is designed to provide opportunities for corporate worship and exposure through of a variety of informative speakers and presentations.
All chapels are open to the public free of charge and are televised live on WLCU- (Comcast Cable channel 10) and are streamed live on the Internet.
