Campbellsville University announces promotions, tenure for faculty

Campbellsville University has announced promotions and tenure for several faculty members.

The following professors at Campbellsville University have received promotions: Dr. Rocky Wallace, Dr. Vincent Scovetta, Dr. Ogochukwu Onyiri, Dr. Robin Magruder, Dr. Ryan Gipson, Dr. Dava Dorjsuren, Jeannie Clark, Dr. Corey Bonds, Dr. Carman Arranz Ordas, Dr. Marilyn Goodwin, Dr. Jeffrey Wiesman and Dr. Lisa Fulks.

Dr. Rocky Wallace

Dr. Rocky Wallace has been promoted to professor of education.

Wallace has served at Campbellsville University since Oct. 2018.

Wallace received a Bachelor of Arts from Berea College in 1979. Wallace also received a Master of Arts from Morehead State University in 1983 and a Doctorate in Strategic Leadership from Regent University in 2007.

Wallace served as principal of Fallsburg School in Louisa, Ky., from 1991 to 1994 and Cattlesburg Elementary School in Ashland from 1994 to 2000. He taught physical education and coached baseball and basketball at Boyd County Schools from 1979 to 1991.

He was also director of instructional support and adult education for the Kentucky Educational Development Corporation from 2002 to 2007.

Dr. Vincent Scovetta

Dr. Vincent Scovetta has been promoted to professor of computer sciences.

Scovetta has served at Campbellsville University since Jan. 2018.

Scovetta received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from St. John’s University. Scovetta also received a Master of Science in Computer Information Systems from Long Island University and a Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Information Systems from Nova Southeastern University.

Scovetta has held the position of vice president for product management at an international software research and development corporation, where he was responsible for several software products and managed a staff of developers, support personnel, technical writers and quality assurance engineers. Scovetta holds two U.S. patents in cross-platform communications and software licensing.

Dr. Ogochukwu Onyiri

Dr. Ogochukwu Onyiri has been promoted to associate professor of biology.

Onyiri has served at Campbellsville University since Aug. 2017.

Onyiri received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Rivers State University of Science and Technology in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, in 1995. Onyiri also received a Master of Science in Microbiology from Rivers State University in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, in 2000 and a Doctor of Philosophy in Biology from the University of Louisville in 2015.

Onyiri also completed post master’s work in environmental soil science at Alabama A&M from 2007 to 2008. Onyiri was also an adjunct biology instructor at Campbellsville University from 2003 to 2017. Onyiri was also a research fellow at the University of Louisville in the spring of 2015.

Dr. Robin Magruder

Dr. Robin Magruder has been promoted to professor of education.

Magruder has served at Campbellsville University since Aug. 2013.

Magruder received a Bachelor of Science in Middle School Education from the University of Louisville in 1992. Magruder also received a Master of Education from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2005 and a Doctor of Education from the University of Kentucky in 2012.

Magruder taught in Kentucky public schools for ten years before becoming a faculty member at Campbellsville University. She was appointed to the Prichard Committee Task Force for Teacher Preparation in 2021.

Dr. Ryan Gipson

Dr. Ryan Gipson has been promoted to associate professor of mathematics.

Gipson has served at Campbellsville University since Aug. 2019.

Gipson received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Murray State University in 2012. Gipson also received a Master of Arts and Ph.D. from the University of Louisville in 2018.

His research interests include commutative algebra, factorization theory, semigroups, and semigroup rings.

Dr. Dava Dorjsuren

Dr. Dava Dorjsuren has been promoted to associate professor of business.

Dorjsuren has served at Campbellsville University since Jan. 2019.

Dorjsuren received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Campbellsville University in 2009. Dorjsuren also received a Master of Business Administration from Campbellsville University in 2011 and a Doctor of Philosophy in financial planning from Texas Tech University in 2019.

She is a member of the Rotary International and the Financial Planning Association.

Jeannie Clark

Jeannie Clark has been promoted to associate professor of mass communication.

Clark has served at Campbellsville University since July. 2007.

Clark received a Bachelor of Arts in Communications/Broadcasting from Eastern Kentucky University in 1992. Clark also received a Master of Arts in Communication/Digital Storytelling from Asbury University in 2016.

Clark was the general manager for Campbellsville University’s radio and television stations, WLCU TV/FM. Clark has worked for several television and radio stations, including WGRB Green River Broadcasting, WKRQ/WTCO/WO4BP, Simmons Cable and WKRC.

Dr. Corey Bonds

Dr. Corey Bonds has been promoted to associate professor of music.

Bonds has served at Campbellsville University since Aug. 2014.

Bonds received a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Campbellsville University in 2005. Bonds also received a Master of Music in Music Education from Campbellsville University in 2007 and a Doctoral of Music Arts in Wind Band Counseling from the University of Kentucky in 2020.

Bonds also serves as director of bands at Campbellsville University, and he received the Campbellsville University Non-Tenured Faculty Award in 2022. He started his career in 2006 when he became assistant director of bands for Allen County Schools. In 2007, he became director of bands for Glasgow Independent Schools.

Dr. Carman Arranz Ordas

Dr. Carman Arranz Ordas has been promoted to professor of Spanish.

Arranz Ordas has served at Campbellsville University since Aug. 2013.

Arranz Ordas received a Bachelor of Arts in Translation and Interpretation from Universidad de Valladolid in Spain in 2002. Arranz Ordas also received a Master of Arts in Hispanic Studies from the University of Kentucky in 2004 and a Doctor of Philosophy in Hispanic Studies from the University of Kentucky in 2010.

From 2004 to 2005, she taught Spanish at Lexington Catholic High School. From 2008 to 2010, she was a visiting instructor of Spanish at Centre College, and from 2010 to 2013, she was a visiting assistant professor of Spanish at Centre College.

Dr. Marilyn Goodwin

Dr. Marilyn Goodwin has been promoted to professor of education.

Goodwin has served at Campbellsville University since Aug. 2010.

Goodwin received a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Education and Office Management from Campbellsville College (now Campbellsville University) in 1993. Goodwin also received a Master of Divinity in Christian Education with an emphasis in preschool and children’s ministry from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1996 and a Doctor of Philosophy in Education from Capella University in 2014.

Goodwin served as a preschool/children’s ministry consultant for the Kentucky Baptist Convention. She also worked as the early care and education trainer’s credential for the Cabinet for Health and Family Services from 2004 to 2012.

Dr. Jeffrey Wiesman

Dr. Jeffrey Wiesman has been promoted to professor of education.

Wiesman has served at Campbellsville University since Aug. 2021.

Wiesman received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Education from Wheaton College in 1993. Wiesman also received a Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Aurora University in 2007.

Wiesman holds membership in the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, The International Christian Community for Teachers, Association of Independent Liberal Arts Colleges of Teacher Education and American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education.

Dr. Lisa Fulks

Dr. Lisa Fulks has been promoted to professor of education.

Fulks has served at Campbellsville University since Aug. 2013.

Fulks received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Louisville in 1986. Fulks also received a Master of Education from the University of Louisville in 1995 and a Doctor of Education from the University of Louisville in 2005.

Fulks worked in Jefferson County Public Schools for 27 years as an educator. She also served as an instructional coach and acting principal for three schools.

Other professors receiving tenure are Dr. Ellen Hamilton-Ford, Dr. Joey Budd, Dr. Diana Cooper-Bolinskey, Dr. Valerie Flanagan, Dr. Jeffrey Herron, Dr. Mike O’Neal, Dr. Seneca Rodriguez and Dr. Elisha Lawrence.

 

Dr. Ellen Hamilton-Ford

Dr. Ellen Hamilton-Ford has served at Campbellsville University since Aug. 2011.

Hamilton-Ford received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Campbellsville University in 1989 and a Planned Fifth Year in Elementary Education from Western Kentucky University in 1998. Hamilton-Ford also received a Master of Arts in Instructional Leadership and School Administration from Bellarmine University in 2007.

Hamilton-Ford earned her Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Spalding University in 2017.

Dr. Joey Budd

Dr. Joey Budd has served at Campbellsville University since 2018.

Budd received a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Ga., in 2004 and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Valdosta State in 2005. Budd also received a Doctor of Educational Leadership from Argosy University in Schaumberg, Ill., in 2014.

Budd came to Campbellsville University after a career in law enforcement in Georgia. His law enforcement career began with the Ray City Police Department in 1999. He spent three years there before moving to the Nashville Police Department in Georgia, serving as a patrol officer and detective for three years. Budd then joined the Tift County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia as a deputy for one year before moving to Kentucky. Budd joined the United States Air Force in 1987 following graduation from high school. Budd ended his service in October 2001 with an honorable discharge, having received the following recognitions: Air Force Commendation Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters (OLC), Air Force Achievement Medal with two OLCs, Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Military Education with one OLC, National Defense Service Medal, USAF Overseas Service Long Tour, South West Asia Service Medal with one service star, USAF Training Ribbon, USAF Longevity Service Award with two OLCs, USAF Good Conduct Medal with four OLCs, USAF Outstanding Unit Award with one silver OLC.

Dr. Diana Cooper-Bolinskey

Dr. Diana Cooper-Bolinskey has served at Campbellsville University since Aug. 2019.

Cooper-Bolinskey received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Virginia’s College at Wise in 1996 and a Master of Social Work from Radford University in 1999. Cooper-Bolinskey also received a Doctorate of Health Science from Indiana State University in 2017.

Cooper-Bolinskey has served in Social Work departments at Capella University, Indiana State University and the University of Southern Indiana. She has social work field experience dating back more than 20 years. She is a partner and provider at Wabash Valley Therapy in Terre Haute, IN, where she resides with her husband, Kevin Bolinskey.

Dr. Valerie Flanagan

Dr. Valerie Flanagan has served at Campbellsville University since Aug. 2016.

Flanagan received a Bachelor of Arts in 5-9 education from Lindsey Wilson College in 2008 and a master’s degree in education teacher leader from Lindsey Wilson College in 2015. Flanagan also received a Ph.D. in Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands in 2015.

She is a member of Kappa Delta Pi, the international honor society for education.

Dr. Jeffrey Herron

Dr. Jeffrey Herron has served at Campbellsville University since Aug. 2017.

Herron received a Bachelor of Science from Eastern Kentucky University in 2006 and a Master of Science in Family and Child Studies from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, in 2008. Herron also received a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Eastern Kentucky University in 2016.

Before coming to Campbellsville University, he worked at Jefferson County Public Schools, Bluegrass Community and Technical College, Spalding University, and Miami University. He is also the author of “Using Self-Efficacy for Improving Retention and Success of Diverse Student Populations” and co-author of “Addressing Violence in the U.S. Public School System” and “Strategies for Student Support During a Global Crisis.”

Dr. Mike O’Neal

Dr. Mike O’Neal has served at Campbellsville University since July of 2017.

O’Neal received a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Kentucky in 1987 and a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1990. O’Neal also received a Ph.D. from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1996.

O’Neal was senior pastor at Campbellsville Baptist Church from 2013 to 2017. He has also served as pastor at Hurstbourne Baptist Church in Louisville, Smithwood Baptist Church in Knoxville, Tenn., Columbia Baptist Church in Columbia, Ky. and Garner Baptist Church in Parker County, Texas. O’Neal also served on the Campbellsville University Board of Trustees from 2013 to 2017. In 2007, he published his book “Interpreting Habakkuk as Scripture” and published numerous Preaching Magazine articles.

Dr. Seneca Rodriguez

Dr. Seneca Rodriguez has served at Campbellsville University since Jan. 2018.

Rodriguez received a Bachelor of Science in 2007. She also holds a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy.

Rodriguez has also served as a school counselor, clinical coordinator, behavior management specialist, and program supervisor.

Dr. Elisha Lawrence

Dr. Elisha Lawrence of Campbellsville, Ky., has served at Campbellsville University since Aug. 2015.

Lawrence received a Bachelor of Science In Elementary Education from Western Kentucky University in 2002 and a Master of Arts in Elementary/Middle School Counseling in 2003. Lawrence also received a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Eastern Kentucky University in 2019.

She also received a Master’s in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages in 2018 from Campbellsville University. She received a Rank I from Eastern Kentucky University, an endorsement for teaching English as a Second Language and an endorsement for literacy specialist, both from Eastern Kentucky University. Lawrence has previously taught in Edmonson County Schools, Monroe County Schools, Daviess County Schools, Warren County Schools, Lincoln County Schools, Danville Independent Schools and Mercer County Schools.
