Andy Woods

By Joan C. McKinney, director of university communications

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Andy Woods, who has over 11 years of experience in operations and facilities construction, is the new associate vice president for operations at Campbellsville University.

Woods will assume his new role Nov. 28.

Woods has spent the last 6 ½ years in management roles with Amazon. In his various roles, Woods launched twelve multimillion-dollar new sites and facilities across the country. While in operations leadership, he led projects that created $1.6 million in savings in process improvement.

In his new role at Campbellsville University, Woods will oversee facility and auxiliary services for the institution, manage over 100 buildings across multiple campus sites throughout Kentucky, California and Canada, develop long-range campus master planning and facility maintenance planning and manage an operations budget in excess of $9 million annually.

He will also collaborate strategically with senior leadership to cast vision, implement changes and advance the university’s Christian mission.

Tim Judd, vice president for finance, said, “I am thrilled Andy is joining our leadership team and ready to cast a new vision for operations.

“His broad range of experience, creative thinking, work ethic and integrity are exactly what I was looking for in a new leader for operations. It is an exciting time for the operations team to have the support and encouragement I am confident they will receive.”

Woods has served as senior manager of the Amazon Customer Excellence System (ACES), Lab126 and Amazon Devices. He led the ACES team in cross-functional global initiatives, Business Intelligence (BI), operations and finance.

He has worked closely with and managed third-party labor field leaders to identify opportunities to innovate new technology and scale productivity. He evaluated and designed global warehouse topology and facility floorplans and drove consistency in operations with clear process maps and process standardization.

“I am impressed with Andy Wood’s work in construction management, his technical understanding and his remarkable leadership in facility implementation,” Dr. Joseph Hopkins, president of Campbellsville University, said.

“However, the most exciting thing about Andy is his heart for people and his passion for CU and our mission. With Andy Woods, we have attracted someone who can lead us toward the very best in operational excellence and personal care.”

As associate vice president for operations, Woods said his top priorities for the first 90 days will be to gain a strong understanding of performance objectives and responsibilities of the role and observe and learn current processes and systems.

Woods’ additional priorities in the first 90 days include building strong relationships with his team members and the university’s faculty, staff and students, visiting all Campbellsville University properties to learn about their condition and needs, studying the current campus master plan to understand the strategy behind its development and creating a tool using historical data to plan and predict building cost expenses for all university properties.

Woods is a 2002 graduate of Campbellsville University with a Bachelor of Science in Educational Ministries. He served on the Presidential Judicial Council and as president of the Baptist Student Union as a student. He was also director of broadcast services as an employee at Campbellsville University.

In addition to Amazon, Woods has been employed with Blevins Construction, Bluegrass Cellular, Pro Services Construction and Kentucky Heartland Outreach.

He has had senior pastor and interim roles with several churches, including South Campbellsville Baptist Church, Friendship Baptist Church and Asbury United Methodist Church, all in Campbellsville; Pleasant View Baptist Church in Waynesburg, Ky.; and First Baptist Church in Middlesboro, Ky.

Woods is interim pastor at South Campbellsville Baptist Church. He has also served at Friendship Baptist Church and Asbury United Methodist Church, both in Campbellsville, and Pleasant View Baptist Church in Waynesburg, Ky. and First Baptist Church in Middlesboro, Ky.

Woods is married to Carrie Caldwell Woods, a 2001 graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Business Marketing, and they have just celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary. They have a daughter, Lauren, a sophomore at Taylor County High School who is the vice president of her class; and a son, Asher, who is in seventh grade at Taylor County Middle School.

Judd said, “Andy is an excellent manager of his team members leading them with Christ-like character while motivating and challenging them in their roles. He is a strong mission fit for the university.

“I look forward to working alongside Andy to help move the operations of the university forward as we embark on a new strategic plan for the future.”
