Campbellsville University to host 25th Annual Homecoming Car Cruise

Campbellsville University to host 25th Annual Homecoming Car CruiseBy Austin Fitzgerald, student intern writer, Office of University Communications

On Oct. 28, Campbellsville University will host the 25th annual Homecoming Car Cruise with registration from 9 a.m. to noon. The cruise is open to cars, trucks and motorcycles of all makes, models and years.

Seventy-five participants of the cruise were scheduled to receive a custom imprinted 1/24 scale die cast of a 1929 Ford Roadster. However, those were destroyed during the recent Hurricane Irma so a substitution will be made.

If there are more than 75 participants, the die casts will be given away through a drawing. The drawing, if needed, will take place in time for those desiring to attend the football game to do so. This is the 12th and final in a series of die casts.

You can also be part of a special recognition of Campbellsville’s Bicentennial during the Homecoming Parade for “Cars of the Centuries.” Vehicles of all ages are being sought to participate in the parade, which is at 11 a.m.

The vehicles will be placed in chronological order from the oldest cars to the newest cars. Pre-register for the parade by sending an email to

Stan McKinney, associate professor of journalism, coordinator of the cruise, said, “A special thanks to Don Franklin Motors for sponsoring ‘Cars of the Centuries’ and for providing the cars for the most recent years.”

A special dash plaque will be given to all participating in the parade along with being placed into a drawing for $200 cash prize that is through the Bicentennial Committee. Participants should report to Campbellsville Elementary School on Roberts Road no later than 10:30 a.m. where they will line up. The parade will end at the car cruise site.
