Campbellsville University has received $50,000 from the Eula Mae and John Baugh Foundation for the university’s Church Outreach Program.
“Campbellsville University’s Church Outreach program is significant to churches in Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana, Virginia and beyond. The CU students are passionate about spreading the love of Christ throughout their state,” Jackie Baugh Moore, vice president of the Baugh Foundation, said.
“Through this program, congregations get a chance to interact with the next generation of ministerial and lay leadership even while those students are discerning which path to take,” she said, “The students bring their gifts and excitement to worship, and the churches are able to impact students by providing wisdom, experience and love. It is a win-win, and we are glad to be a part of this excellent program.”
The Baugh Foundation has supported Campbellsville since 2015. The funds are to be used to continue the expansion of the Church Outreach Program.
Dr. G. Ted Taylor, vice president for university outreach, said, “The Baugh Foundation gift of $50,000 each year for four years, beginning in 2015, has provided the financial foundation to grow church outreach at Campbellsville. The gift that has been sown into church outreach has reaped an incredible harvest as God has done more than we could have ever imagined.” Taylor estimates the impact of giving directly and indirectly through the Church Outreach Program is over $6 million. Along with the generous contributions from the Baugh Foundation, total church giving has increased each year.
Wes Carter, regional director of development and church outreach, said, “The support from the Baugh Foundation is the catalyst and anchor behind enabling Campbellsville University’s Church Outreach program to train and equip current students to carry out professional ministry experience each week, in and through churches across Ky. With this partnership, CU now is able to empower CU students to lead between 250 and 300 worship services annually.”
Tim Heilman, Campbellsville’s director of development, said, “The Baugh family members were the first to come to our aid when we were trying to get the Church Outreach Program off the ground. We all feel like the Baughs are a part of our Campbellsville family.”
Ms. Baugh Moore said, “We want to encourage our fellow Baptists to join in this work.
The students involved are outstanding, intentionally diverse and innovative. They are sharing the love of Christ way beyond the walls of their classrooms. Their unique learning lab is the church, and they are changed forever even as they serve the body of Christ.”
