CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville University’s annual Honors and Awards Day presented students, faculty and staff awards recognizing them for their academics and service to the university and community.

Awards were given in the following categories: special awards, academic awards, Servant Leadership Awards, Tenured Faculty Award, honor graduates, Alpha Chi, “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges,” Champions of Character and those students who made the President’s List and Dean’s List.
The Tenured Faculty Award was presented to Stan McKinney, assistant professor of journalism at CU. He received the Distinguished Professor stole and a check for $3,000.
Dr. Wesley Roberts, professor of music, played the processional, “The Prince of Denmark’s March.” Dr. Mark Bradley, professor of music and chair of the Faculty Forum, gave the invocation.
André Silva Pereira Tomaz of Brazil was named Mr. Campbellsville University, and Kristi Diane Ensminger of Kingston Springs, Tenn., was named Miss Campbellsville University. The Rotary Award was presented to Christina Louise Miller of Danville, Ky.
Student Government Association Special Awards went to: Robert Morgan Bender of Campbellsville, Ky. for Extra Mile/Student; Jackie Emerson, custodian, Extra Mile/Faculty/Staff; and Dr. Jarvis Williams, assistant professor of New Testament and Greek, Challenger (Faculty) Award.
The Alumni Association Awards were presented to the following: DeMarcus Steven Compton of Greensburg, Ky., Talent; André Silva Pereira Tomaz of Brazil, Leadership; Kristi Diane Ensminger of Kingston Springs, Tenn., Double “A” for athletics and academics;

Champions of Character is an initiative of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, and CU has been recognized as a Champions of Character institution for nine years in a row.
Students on the president’s academic honors list and the dean’s academic honors list for fall 2009 were also recognized.
